FILM DISTRIBUTION RAMPS UP
PERTH, December 10th 2009 – Further to negotiations conducted over the past year and part funding of film projects at various stages of development, Editor at Large (EaL) is now in the process of formulating the structure of its film and TV interests.
The name Cloud Factory has been chosen and it is planned to include both a film production and film distribution entity under this umbrella. Film distribution will concentrate upon foreign arthouse productions: distribution guarantees are currently being sought from Australian independent cinema chains.

WHINGEING POM HITS THE SUPERMARKETS
PERTH, November 4th 2009 – Continuing efforts to improve Whingeing Pom’s distribution outside the magazine’s appearance in newsagents has now resulted in agreements being struck with specific IGA supermarkets. 20 IGAs in Western Australia, situated in areas with a high density of resident ex pats, have agreed to stock Whingeing POM WA on a sale or return basis after a trial run in one IGA which had an 85% sell-through on the issue.

WHINGEING POM BORDERS PROMOTION
SYDNEY, October 6th 2009 – In conjunction with our distribution partners Gordon and Gotch, the national version of Whingeing POM is currently being promoted at all 23 Borders Bookshops throughout state capitals.
Whingeing POM has initiated a ‘frontline’ promotion at all the Borders stores with the magazines being given stand-alone displays and arranged in prominent positions by the cash registers.

EDITOR AT LARGE HIT RECORD SALES
PERTH, April 4th 2009 – In the midst of exceptionally difficult trading conditions, Editor at Large recorded its strongest ever sales quarter. Q1 2009 sales figures were bolstered by the launch of the national version of Whingeing Pom whilst our two other titles held their own in the face of what appears to be a global financial fallout.

WHINGEING POM GOES NATIONAL
SYDNEY, March 1st 2009 – Adhering to our initial business plan and one year after Whingeing Pom’s West Australian launch, Editor at Large (EaL) has now launched the national version of its award-winning magazine. The new publication, Whingeing POM, is a 112 page glossy lifestyle magazine specifically aimed at the East Coast of Australia and all regions barring WA. The bi-monthly mag contains different content from its sister title and is geared towards Australia’s huge ex-pat population. Appearances on Channel 7’s Today Tonight programme, ABC radio and several other independent radio stations have been slated to coincide with the magazine’s launch.

Aviator Sales Triple
PERTH, March 4th 2008 – Following its New Zealand debut last year at more than 200 retail outlets throughout the North and South Islands, Aviator Magazine’s retail sales figures tripled in the month of February. Sales figures from the magazine’s distributor Gordon & Gotch revealed a large spike in newsstand sales on already robust sales returns.

Aviator in the Running
SYDNEY, September 30th 2007 – The magazine publisher’s annual industry awards ceremony, the Bell Awards, has nominated Aviator magazine as one of its six finalists in the category, Best Graphic Design for a Consumer Magazine. Publishers Australia considers hundreds of publications for the Bell Awards: Aviator is proud and honoured, during only its first year of operation, to have been placed in the final six out of a field of more than 120 competing titles.

Film Deal Sealed
PERTH, August 24th 2007 – Editor at Large (EaL) announced today a three film development deal signed with Serenity Films. After months of intense discussion, the two companies announced co-development of three projects: two short films and a 6 x 30 minute episode documentary series. The first film, entitled ‘Casper’, has already entered pre-production with principal photography slated to commence in Western Australia in October. Serenity Films will act as the Executive Producer for this 7 minute short, shot on HD DV and 35mm film.

Launch of Aviator
PERTH, December 14th 2006 – Editor at Large (EaL) is delighted to announce the launch of its first Australian consumer title, Aviator Magazine. This niche consumer publication is aimed at Australia’s aviation industry and its participants, emerging in a market already serviced by five other titles. Lengthy discussions with Gordon & Gotch, Australia’s publically listed premier magazine distributor, have ensured a title launch in over 2,000 newsagents nationwide. The first issue will be available on the newsstands in early January 2007.

Consumer Launch Sidelined
LONDON, February 25th 2006 - The Editor at Large Ltd board has decided not to pursue its intended consumer magazine launch. Despite having agreements in place with several contributors, cover and spread templates designed and significant ad agency interest and the launch issue almost completed, it was felt that ultimately, the considerable upfront costs were prohibitive. Although marketing costs were significantly minimised by the high quality and innovation of the title and an extremely low production budget already implemented, the barrier to entry of the two major retailers requiring a significant amount of cash upfront just to stock the title, although discounted from their normal rates, were unrecoverable costs that would impede the publication’s progress over its formative first couple of years.

24:7 in Print
LONDON, February 9th 2006 – Editor at Large’s continued involvement with the 24:7 London portal has now resulted in the launch of a hard copy tabloid newspaper.  24:7 London is the only free newspaper in the UK dedicated to the adult entertainment scene in London. Available monthly with regularly updated promotions, news, views and reviews plus adult advertising. The tabloid-sized paper is running as a fortnightly title, with a print run in excess of 50,000 copies.

LONDON, December 15th – Editor at Large Ltd (EaL) has been involved over the past three months in preparing a tender and proposed consumer launch for Maverick Media Ltd, a major London publishing company and agency. Market research, storyboards and in-depth editorial/content boards have all been produced and the launch issue flat-planned.
